Trophy Presentation 2012

The Hosanna Sixth Form Group from Brimsham Green School received the Yate & District Twinning Association Trophy on 21 June 2012.  There is a photo of the Group, Frances Bircher, Alex Case, Stephen Cripps, Matthew Horn, Ben Howell, Eleanor Milton, Emma Pilgrim, Kate Rogers and Helen Tyler in the Gallery www.yatetwinning.co.uk/gallery/2012  The school has been linked with Hosanna school in Uganda for a number of years, raising about £24,000.

Over the last year the group of students have planned, organised and run a number of events, both in school and in the wider community in order to raise funds.  They have had the traditional car boot sales, quiz nights and auction nights and have also collected old mobile phones, clothing and even copper piping for recycling! During this time they have given talks about the exchange to Brimsham Green students and younger students from the local primary schools.

This year two teachers and nine students will be taking a number of resources with them to support their teaching, which they can leave at the school to be used by the teachers after they have left.  Ann, the head teacher, has asked them to focus on reading, hence the big books.  (With the Trophy went £50 to buy more big books). These are particularly important as some of the classes have over 90 pupils in them.
