Annual meeting of the two Councils

A visit was made to Bad Salzdetfurth by the Yate Town Mayor, the Deputy Mayor, the Chair of Yate Twinning Association and their partners on the 4th -  6th March 2011, once again staying in the homes of  residents of Bad Salzdetfurth. This annual exchange is made to see the progress and development of each town, often learning from each others’ experiences.This year a visit was made to Bad Salzdetfurth’s  Solar Power site where some 500 solar panels have been placed on an old refuse site and to a Biogas plant run on a mixture of maize and manure, both sites are new initiatives to supplement the region’s energy supply.  

A meeting was also held to discuss and plan for the visit to Yate in September by residents of Bad Salzdetfurth. 

The second day was a trip to Braunschweig  to see the annual carnival which is a celebration of the end of winter and the coming of spring. This was a very colourful procession of floats through the town and it was wonderful to see how  the spectators joined in by dressing up to be part of the celebrations.
